It was seismic activity that lifted this low, flat island up from beneath the sea. Now its home to many species, some endemic. Sea lions, pelicans, blue-footed boobies, frigatebirds, shorebirds, swallow-tailed gulls, marine iguanas, and endemic palo santo can be seen here. You might also see here the largest congregation of magnificent frigatebirds in the islands.

Below the water, scalloped hammerheads cruise through the currents and thermoclines along with schools of Yellowtail Grunts. Sometimes divers can see the boobies diving into the water from above, hitting the water and diving as deep as 20 feet to snare a fish.
